At the beginning of February, Ceres will transition from the sign of Sagittarius, which is known for its fun-loving nature, to the sign of Capricorn, which is known for its discipline.
Ceres will spend almost the entire rest of the year in Capricorn due to a retrograde period in Scorpio. In light of this, what does it mean for us?
Ceres in Astrology
In astrology, we refer to Ceres as an asteroid, even though it is technically a dwarf planet (just like Pluto), and this is because it was an asteroid before it was designated as a dwarf planet. Ceres is extremely nurturing, supportive, and caring, and she is always there for everyone. It is comparable to a Moon that has been supercharged, possibly with a touch of Venus.

Ceres in Capricorn: General Impact
With Ceres in Capricorn, the planet of nourishment, safety, and resources moves into the sign of self-control, accountability, and concentration. This allows us to be more concerned with the outcome in the long run rather than solely focusing on the here and now, and it also allows us to be more conventional, practical, and disciplined with our resources and finances. Thus, now may be an excellent moment to establish objectives for the future, both financially and in terms of improving or gaining access to new resources.
Many people can put their energy into advancing their careers and achieving their goals because Capricorn governs our aspirations and directions. We might wish for more encouragement for our endeavors and a sense of fulfillment from our work. When we act morally and with integrity, we can reap greater benefits and receive more support. There may be obligations for those who reach new heights and accomplish remarkable things.
We can work on improving our time management skills so that we can continue to meet our own needs while also feeling secure. To achieve this, we might use tried-and-true techniques or more realistic approaches. During this transition, we aren’t very interested in doing things that are out of our comfort zones.
Given that Ceres goes retrograde in Capricorn from May 15th to August 26th, the planet spends an unusually long time there. The planet’s energy can be thrown off when it appears to move backward, which is known as retrograde motion. More difficulties with resources, feeling supported, and nurturing may be in store for those of us with Ceres. Our objectives, course of action, and duties may be affected by this in Capricorn.
Probably, we need to come up with a new strategy, one that isn’t completely unconventional, but stands in contrast to our current efforts. Also, progress may be delayed due to a significant roadblock that must be removed. In addition, during this retrograde period, we may need to make amends for an action we took under the influence of Capricorn but did not fully intend to.
The retrograde begins with a trine to Venus and Uranus, a favorable aspect, and a square to Chiron, a negative aspect. Venus and Uranus are in a cooperative aspect, which can lead us to reevaluate our current methods of collaboration and perhaps reacquaint ourselves with a former supervisor or pursue a long-lost ambition. We need to stay put and tend to any old wounds that the square to Chiron may bring up.
In addition to being in alignment with the karmic and spiritual Lunar Nodes, the retrograde ends are also square to the asteroid Pholus. The square to the Lunar Nodes could highlight any obstacles to obtaining the necessary support and resources, allowing us to eliminate them once and for all. On the other hand, the conjunction to asteroid Pholus could compel us to act in ways we never expected, potentially leading to significant, life-altering occurrences. This retrograde has quite a karmic finale!
Once we exit the retrograde, we can focus on getting back on track to the best of our abilities. We may be laser-focused on completing a major project from September 1st to November 19th, when Pluto returns to Capricorn and finishes its transit of the sign. Things could get intense fast. In some ways, it can seem like a bygone age. It is Ceres’s fervent wish that we provide ourselves with the necessary resources and use them wisely.
Ceres in Capricorn 2024 Aspects:
Due to the fact that Ceres spends a significant amount of time in Capricorn and is in retrograde, it is influencing a great deal of aspects:
- Sextile Sun in Pisces on February 25th at 6 degrees and Sun in Scorpio on November 13th at 21 degrees: By doing so, we can better attend to our own needs for solace and support while simultaneously eliciting those of others. This energy has the potential to be sympathetic and empathetic.
- Sextile Mercury in Pisces on February 27th at 7 degrees and Mercury in Scorpio on October 24th at 16 degrees: It is within our power to devise strategies that enable us to secure the necessary backing, make efficient use of existing resources, or gain entry to previously unavailable ones. A person’s cognitive strengths can be showcased and rewarded.
- Sextile Saturn in Pisces on March 13th at 11 degrees & June 12th at 19 degrees & October 13th at 13 degrees: While Ceres is in Capricorn, there is only one advantageous aspect that goes exact three times and remains in effect for a long time. Saturn rules focus and discipline, so this encourages us to be more frugal with our money, to take our obligations seriously, and to take practical steps to care for ourselves.
- Square Mercury in Aries on March 16th at 12 degrees & on May 5th at 21 degrees: These aspects occur before and after Mercury retrograde in Aries, so we might have to deal with problems related to our resources, make plans for them, and practice bettering our ability to express our support for something or someone during and after that retrograde.
- Sextile Venus in Pisces on March 23rd at 14 degrees: Through our connections, we are able to receive and offer support, cultivate the relationships we already have, and experience a greater sense of security when we commit.
- Square Sun in Aries on April 6th at 17 degrees and Sun in Libra on October 4th at 11 degrees: There are a lot of factors that can contribute to insecurity, including a lack of support and the difficulties in obtaining it.
- Sextile Mars in Pisces on April 16th at 19 degrees: Mars is the planet of energy and motivation, so having a lot of people rooting for us can give us the boost we need to go after new opportunities and make the most of what we already have.
- Square Venus in Aries on April 20th at 19 degrees: We may find it challenging to be overly vulnerable or to be supportive of others because of this. Relationship problems probably require our attention.
- Trine Sun in Taurus on May 10th at 21 degrees: As Ceres retrograde is about to start, it can be helpful to concentrate on taking care of ourselves, nourishing our passions, and creating a comfortable environment.
- Trine Venus in Taurus on May 16th at 21 degrees: During Ceres retrograde, we can feel this and be more encouraging and supportive. It’s also a good time to form partnerships and allies that will benefit you.
- Square Mars in Aries on May 28th at 21 degrees: Disagreements may arise with other people over who gets what help or resources. We should practice directing our energy constructively because we tend to act out when we don’t feel supported.
- Trine Mercury in Taurus on May 29th at 20 degrees: Word gets out, and its good news when it affects resources or support. We can take care of our brains and discover more ways to speak out.
- Opposite Mercury in Cancer on June 25th at 16 degrees: During this time, we may encounter difficulties such as a lack of clarity, unwelcome news, or suggestions for additional resources. We should probably try to see things from a new angle.
- Opposite Venus in Cancer and Trine Mars in Taurus on June 30th at 15 degrees: The trine to Mars provides us with motivation and a burst of energy to use our resources, but the opposition to Venus suggests we might have to go it alone if we encounter obstacles from others. Probably, we should be more accommodating and patient.
- Opposite Sun in Cancer on July 6th at 14 degrees: When we don’t have the help we need, it can erode our self-esteem. We must stop depending on other people and figure out how to support ourselves in new ways.
- Trine Venus in Virgo on August 11th at 8 degrees: Other people can turn out to be useful, and we can meet people who can help us in some way. There are new ways to receive support and ways to be supportive to others.
- Trine Sun in Virgo on August 29th at 7 degrees: This can assist us in taking care of ourselves, making ourselves comfortable, securing our resources, and being more supportive as Ceres moves out of retrograde.
- Square Venus in Libra on September 4th at 7 degrees: Supporting one another can be difficult in relationships that could use some improvement. We should get moving because we might be feeling stuck.
- Trine Mercury in Virgo on September 14th at 8 degrees: Messages and suggestions that are both helpful and have an effect on resources that can show us more. We are able to express our support effectively and receive positive feedback from others.
- Opposite Mars in Cancer on September 20th at 9 degrees: Fights can break out over support and resources, and everyone might feel like lash out, but that won’t fix the problem. We must direct our excess energy in a constructive direction and concentrate better.
- Square Mercury in Libra and Sextile Venus in Scorpio on October 2nd at 11 degrees: Venus helps us to ground ourselves and benefit from our connections, even though Mercury makes it hard to communicate, receive bad news, or concentrate.
- Sextile Neptune in Pisces on November 29th at 27 degrees: Ceres in Capricorn has completed its aspect cycle, and now is an excellent time to be more sympathetic, helpful, and compassionate. Our level of support and understanding can be exceptional.
Conclusion
While Ceres in Capricorn doesn’t exactly start out on an exciting note, things can get interesting when it goes retrograde, particularly in the first few months of its transit through the sign and in the months leading up to its exit from the sign. We must exercise caution, intelligence, and consideration throughout this journey.
