We haven’t heard much from funny man Jim Carrey lately, as he explores his artistic skills and faces a wrongful death trial over his ex-girlfriend’s suicide.
But his latest public appearance shows he hasn’t lost his comedic personality as he trolls an entertainment reporter so hard that she’s genuinely left speechless.
He looked very dapper when he arrived at the 2017 New York Fashion Week Harper’s Bazaar Icons Party. But while almost everyone who attended were paying tribute to the people who have changed the face of fashion, that wasn’t really the case for The Mask actor.
Check out his bizarre and frankly brilliant interview here:
The 55-year-old hilariously circles the reporter at the start of the interview, but the E! reporter makes a slight faux pas when asking him why he arrived at the event alone: “Tell me, is it true you’re wandering the streets, you need a date to the party, what’s up?”
But instead of letting it phase him, he replies with a strange and brutal remark: “There’s no meaning to any of this, so I wanted to find the most meaningless thing that I could come to and join and here I am.
“You’ve got to admit it’s pretty meaningless.”
When the reporter tries to tell him the night it about celebrating icons, he doesn’t hold back, saying: “Boy, that is just the absolute lowest aiming, you know, possibility that we can come up with. It’s like icons, do you believe in icons? I don’t believe in personalities, I don’t believe that you exist, but there is a wonderful fragrance in the air.”
Carrey tries to ease the tension with a brief impression of singer James Brown’s ‘Get on the Good Foot’, and the reporter don’t know what to say. To be fair, I don’t think anyone would.
Then he drops some more truth bombs: “Yeah I don’t believe in icons, I don’t believe in personalities. I believe that peace lies beyond personality, beyond invention of the skies, beyond the red ‘S’ that you wear on your chest, that makes bullets bounce off. I believe that it’s deeper than that.
“I believe we’re a field of energy, dancing for itself. And I don’t care.
“There is no me. There are just things happening and there are clusters of tetrahedrons moving around together.”
He finishes off the quirky interview with: “Here’s the thing, it’s not our world. We don’t matter.
“We don’t matter.”
Ouch, way it make us all feel like we have purpose Jim. But others on social media thought while it was strange, it was strangely true what he was expressing.
