There is no doubt you can remember a time or two in your life when you not only remembered sayings like “follow your heart” or “listen to your gut” but you also needed in the worst way to put these philosophies to work.
There are critical times in every life where mind, body, and spirit will need to be on the same accord to act with confidence. However, it can sometimes be a problem for some people to use the most neglected part of this trio. Fortunately, definite techniques are available to help you develop your spiritual side so that it is available to you when needed.
Meditate
Learning to meditate will provide you with a way to bring calm to your mind when it is needed. A calm mind clears the way for intuition to take over. Meditation will also establish a path of connection between the “you” that is known to the world and the “you” that is your inner self.
There are a number of ways to meditate and you should search for the one that best aligns with your personality. It is important to set aside time each day that is designated for meditation. You should aim for at least fifteen minutes. The more you practice meditation, the calmer your mind will become.
Reading and Education
Reading books pertaining to spiritual matters will feed your mind and provide you with a sense of inspiration when life gets hectic or monotonous. You should search for as many books or journals that provide spiritual guidance or information regarding self-care as you can get your hands on. You can also replace some of the time you spend watching television with documentaries and podcasts that explore spiritual issues.
Food and Diet
Many people are surprised to learn that the food they eat can either help to develop or block their spiritual growth. The good news is that all the foods that will help you get in touch with your spiritual nature are also good for your body. These foods include vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and healthy fats. Additionally, other foods work directly to develop your third eye. This food list includes:
- Dark chocolate
- Foods that contain omega 3 fatty acids
- Any food that is purple in color
- Blackberries and blueberries
- Plums and prunes
Develop Your Creativity
You may be familiar with the feeling that your thoughts have plateaued and you are in desperate need of a jump-start to your brain. One way to avoid this feeling is to switch up your schedule from time to time as a monotonous routine is a factor in causing you to feel like you are in a rut.
A much stronger solution is to select a right-brain activity as a hobby. Some suggestions for creative activities include wood-working, gardening, or some types of arts and crafts. If you do not feel you are a very creative person, do not let this negative thought stop you. You will surprise yourself with what you create when you find the medium that best suits you.
Find The Right People
Developing your spirituality will be a little easier if you align yourself with like-minded people.
Your new group of friends will empower you by providing you with inspiration, valuing your thoughts and ideas, and helping you create a positive environment that promotes spiritual growth.
Final Thoughts
Listening to your gut does not have to be only an ability you wish you possessed in a time of need. When you take the necessary steps to connect to your spiritual side, the alignment that will take place between your mind, body, and spirit will guide you to a life that is both happier and healthier. The five tips above are great to follow for anyone interested in tapping into their spiritual side.
