Life is a journey and it is a journey that is to be shared with our closest friends and family. We are always sharing our lives with someone else.
There are many people whom we come across during our lives. Some of them are really nice to others and can become the best of friends. Some of them might be toxic but they will artfully hide their toxicity.
However, there are certain things that we should not share with anyone, even our closest friends. These things are far too personal, and they should be kept to yourself.
We know how hard it is to keep everything locked within you, but it’s for your own benefit. Here are some of the things that you should never share with another person:
1. Weaknesses
Being vulnerable is ok, but don’t share it outwardly. There’s always a possibility of people using your weakness against you. They will bring you down by attacking you at your weakest spots. So, don’t show your weakness to everyone.
2. Future plans
We plan ahead and try to think of ways to make our future better. Sometimes, these plans need a bouncing off with someone else so that you can form them better. While you can discuss it with close friends, don’t discuss it with others. They might steal your idea, try to criticize you, and put you on a different path.
3. Achievements
Be proud of your achievements, but don’t boast about it. Boasting about achievement just makes you look arrogant and stupid. You can mention it to your close friends but boasting about it is just overkill.
4. Relationship Problems
When you are in a relationship, there will be a lot of struggles that the two of you face. And that’s all right. You have to work on it together. While you can seek advice from others, you should not go into details of your relationship. It’s a personal thing between you and your partner – keep it that way.
5. Possessions
You may have earned a lot of money and have expensive stuff. But don’t be a douchebag and start showing your new iPhone to others. It just makes you vulnerable to their attacks. You make others feel jealous of you and you turn toxic in their eyes.
6. Income
You don’t have to specify how much you earn. Your income is a way of sustenance – it does not define you. Don’t make others feel bad or make yourself feel bad by comparing incomes.
7. Family Problems
If you are struggling with family problems, keep it to yourself. There is no need to share it with others. Remember, it is not related to just you but your entire family. Respect their privacy too.
8. Kind Acts
The Bible says, ‘But when you do merciful deeds, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand does’. This is so true. Don’t talk about your generous acts to be recognized for it. Do it in silence.
9. Your Own Struggles
Don’t share your struggles with everyone. You have to deal with it. You can mention it to people who are really close to you. But don’t let toxic people get a whiff of it. They will only make it harder for you by destroying your self-esteem.
Keep these secrets and you will see your life free of toxicity. A happy life sometimes needs a few secrets. And that’s okay.
