Albert Einstein needs no introduction. The great scientist is known all over the world. But there is an unknown side to him that many of us do not know about.
He was a philosophical man, who thought about life and its meaning. A common question that plagues all of us is: “How to be happy?”
A Written Note
It was not too long ago that Einstein wrote the note. He wrote it in a hotel room in Japan. Later, it was sold at Jerusalem for over a million dollars! Another one written in the same room was sold for two hundred and forty thousand dollars.
Both the notes carry the scientist’s signature, which explains why the price for the bidding shot up. He had penned down these notes when he was touring Japan.
At that time, he received the news that he won the Nobel prize. Einstein gave the Nobel Prize event a miss because he was scheduled to deliver lectures in Japan at that time.
Tips To Get Happy
Touched by his gesture, the Japanese people came together to arrange an event where he could deliver his speeches.
It was during this time that he wrote these notes and gave them to the bell boy in his hotel, saying that there will be a time when they will be more valuable than any tip he could get.
One of them says “A calm and modest life brings more happiness than the pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness.”
The other quite rightly says “when there’s a will, there’s a way”. The grandson of this same bell boy sold the notes. He currently resides in Hamburg, Germany.
Einstein And Happiness
Einstein’s advice is simple but it is the key to happiness. His life itself is an inspiration, from being a child suffering from a learning disability to becoming a prominent name in the world of science.
There are many stories about his quirks and also about how he did not wish to acquire material possessions.
His legacy speaks for itself, as even today, people are indebted to his theories. The fact that he stuck to his commitment to the Japanese people and gave the Nobel prize ceremony a miss, asserts his love for simplicity.
Let us all rise above materialism and focus on being happy. If someone as great as he found happiness in little things, so can we. An uncomplicated life is always a happy one. Cheers!
