The meteors can come in spurts, so you will have to stare upwards for at least an hour. Go to a place with minimal artificial light and let your eyes adjust to the darkness.
It can take around 20 minutes for you to get used to the surrounding darkness. And then you will be able to spot the meteors very easily.
You will need to locate the Orion constellation and stay focused on it. The Orionids meteor shower will happen across the sky, but they all trace back to the Orion. If you are willing to stay up for a night, you will be taken aback by the beauty of this meteor shower.
