Despite what your favorite astrology meme page claims, not everything about the planets and stars is rosy.

Sometimes we’re just out of sync with the Universal Timepiece — it happens to the best of us. Whether you’re an astrology expert or just a casual observer, a few lifestyle changes and perspective shifts can help you keep your cool and maintain mental, physical, and spiritual balance during difficult planetary transitions.

Create a Calming Home Environment

Because our living space reflects our mental space, it may be time to beautify your home. Turn on your favorite playlist and deep clean your space to set the tone for positive energy to flow through. A few extra touches, such as your favorite scented candles and a fresh bouquet of colorful flowers, will create a cozy, calming atmosphere that will put your mind at ease.

Reconnect With Nature

When you commune with nature — for example, by visiting a local park with a pond or a state park with a waterfall — you’ll gradually begin to breathe more easily as you tune into the natural cadence around you. Might we suggest taking yourself on a picnic with your favorite snacks? While listening to your favorite playlist, you can sit and write down your thoughts. A little arts and crafts project will relax you as well — there’s something about nature that connects with our inner children and makes life seem a little easier.

Get Familiar With the Current Planetary Transits

If it appears that the planets are not aligned in your favor, it will be beneficial to understand what this means for you on a personal level. Understanding where the planets are in the sky and how that reflects on your personal birth chart, aka where the planets were aligned when you were born, will provide you with in-depth insight into how you can work with the planets’ shifts. Instead of allowing things to happen to you, take advantage of this opportunity to learn about what’s going on in specific areas of your life and how you can personally adjust to the transits. As the saying goes, “knowledge is power.”

Write Your Thoughts Down in a Journal

Putting pen to paper has a nostalgic and old-school feel to it. If it’s not part of your daily self-care routine, writing down your thoughts and feelings may seem strange, but it’s one of the best ways to get out of your own head. Laying everything out helps to clear your mind and relieves the pressure of suppressing any negative emotions. Even if you don’t know where to begin, simply write about your day and continue to “brain dump.” If you don’t have a journal, a little retail therapy at your favorite bookstore or stationary store can add an extra layer of TLC.

Give Yourself an Energetic Cushion by Slowing Down

When life is flying at you, the best thing you can do is slow down. If you notice that things aren’t going your way, keep a level head and remain calm. Giving yourself extra breathing room in case things don’t go your way is one example. For example, if you must travel, allow extra time in case of traffic or unforeseen delays. If you have important documents to sign or assignments to turn in, it doesn’t hurt to go over them again (or third time). Being a little more careful and embracing a slower pace can keep you from getting more stressed out.

Remember: Everything Is Temporary

“The only constant in life is change,” a wise person once said, and the same could be said of the stars and planets in the sky. When things become complicated and appear to be a never-ending series of unfortunate events, it’s important to remember that everything happens in cycles, and the difficult times will pass. So, if the world throws you off balance, don’t worry: you’ll regain your footing.
