Summer is in full swing, which means Leo season is about to arrive with a vengeance. But, with Venus and Chiron both retrograde, the next four weeks won’t be all glitz and glamour. Astrologers tell us what you should know.

Leo season shines bright—and so should you

Leo is a sign that enjoys being in the spotlight, and we may all get a taste of that during this Leo season.

The point of Leo season is to let your mane down, regardless of what others think. Does your name belong in the spotlight? Or how about a history book or a hall of fame? Leo season begins on July 22 and favors the brave (which is now all of us!).

And, while Leo enjoys receiving praise and attention, it also enjoys giving praise and attention to others. With summer schedules jam-packed with activities, it’s a great time to show your friends how much you appreciate them.

Venus retrograde reminds us that love requires effort

Lovey-dovey Venus has been in the sign of Leo since early June, signaling the start of a long journey through this dramatic and loyal sign. However, on the same day that Leo season begins, Venus goes retrograde in Leo, causing relationship problems. Retrogrades, on the other hand, provide us with an opportunity to reflect on what we value most in terms of pleasure and intimacy.

While the relationship may not be sailing smoothly until this retrograde ends on September 3, retrogrades remind us to take things slowly, let our emotions simmer before exploding, and look inward for answers.

The wounded healer retrograde in Aries asks us to look within

This year’s Leo season features not one, but two retrogrades, with Chiron retrograde in Aries the day after Leo season begins and Venus retrograde.

In astrology, Chiron is known as the “wounded healer” because it is a comet that highlights deep challenges as well as opportunities for growth. Moreover, while it is in Aries, themes of identity, empowerment, and self-reliance will take center stage.

You may encounter some roadblocks as you try to tap into Aries’ independence, but don’t feel rushed. Retrogrades are a time to take things slowly, and with this one lasting until December 6, you have plenty of time.

Tap into your inner Aquarian on the Aquarius full moon

Every zodiac season has a full moon that marks the end of a six-month lunar cycle. In this case, we’re discussing the lunar cycle that began with the Aquarius new moon in January.

Think back to six months ago on August 1 under the full moon, keeping Aquarius themes like humanitarianism, innovation, social groups, and eccentricity in mind. How can you access those qualities during this lunar cycle? And, perhaps more importantly, what do you need to let go of in order to let your inner Aquarian out to play?

This is also an excellent full moon for socializing, volunteering, or even brainstorming groundbreaking ideas.

Double down on self-expression under the new moon in Leo

In terms of lunar cycles, the new moon in Leo on August 16 kicks off a six-month cycle that will end with the full moon in Leo in late January 2024.

New moons are a time to start over and make new goals, and the sign of expressive Leo encourages us to unleash our creative and expressive energies without fear. Allow your inner lion to roar, and spend the next six months cultivating main character energy until the full moon in Leo.

The takeaway

Leo season can be a wildly entertaining and creative time when we’re all encouraged to shine brightly and express ourselves. While we’ll be thrown a few retrograde curveballs in the coming weeks, we’ll have four weeks to reflect on our relationships and growth while basking in the Leo sun.
