Mercury Retrograde, August 2023, Will Hit Hard These 3 Zodiacs

It’s that time of year again — no, not fall, despite the fact that PSLs and chunky knit sweaters are just around the corner.

Mercury goes retrograde on August 23, so expect a lot of unread texts, delayed flights, and mysterious tech issues until September 14. Though the astrological event is notorious for causing problems for everyone, the August 2023 Mercury retrograde is expected to be especially harsh on three zodiac signs. So, if you’re already feeling a major shift in energy, take it easy for the next three weeks because things are about to get crazy.

You’re probably sick of hearing about Mercury’s bad rap by now, but you might not know what it means when we say it’s in retrograde. Mercury retrograde occurs when the planet appears to “travel backward across the sky,” causing a “retrograde motion.” Mercury rules over communication, travel, and technology in astrology, so if you’ve ever had to deal with confusing correspondences and faulty gadgets during Mercury retrograde, this is why.

While we should all brace ourselves for being pushed to our limits during this retrograde, these three signs are in for an unavoidably wild ride due to their unique relationship with Mercury and the time of year this event occurs.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Mercury retrograde, as the sign associated with communication, is always stressful for Geminis, and this time is no exception. However, failed iMessages and lost email threads aren’t the only issues the air sign will face.  At home, Geminis may face delays or setbacks. This can range from an argument with your roommate to forgetting to pay your rent.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Virgos should brace themselves for the wrath of the dreaded Mercury retrograde. Not only because the cosmic event occurs in their sign, but also because the aggravating interruptions and vexing miscommunications that always occur do not bode well for the earth sign’s need for perfection. Being a Virgo is difficult all year, but the stress is amplified tenfold during Mercury retrograde.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Mercury retrograde is notorious for making travel a nightmare, and because Sagittarius is associated with travel and exploration, Sags and their desire for adventure are likely to suffer as a result of this retrograde. To make matters worse, this retrograde begins at the 21st degree of Sagittarius, which is associated with all of the typical Sagittarius domains, including — you guessed it — travel.
