Have you ever met someone and clicked right away, as the person seemed likable and extremely nice at first sight? They encouraged confidence and genuine feelings in you which may arise in a meaningful friendship.
However, soon you realized that there are quite a few fishy things about them. The kindness and niceness that you noticed, at first sight, is just a disguise to hide their real intentions. In other words, you noticed that their real personality was much different to what you saw in the beginning.
This happens very often though, and as William Shakespeare has put it, “One may smile, and smile, and be a villain.” There are many people who seem very nice but in reality are deceitful. They are masters in hiding their negative intentions from others. It takes a lot of time to reveal they’re true nature and once you determine it, you will certainly want to leave for good.
The good news is that there are a few tips on how to differentiate between someone who is genuine and someone who is fake. Here are some of them:
1. LOOKING OUT FOR YOU; LOOKING DOWN ON YOU
Genuine individuals always look out for their family members and the ones they hold dear. Bringing their close ones down or showing them in a negative light is something they will never do.
On the flip side, people whose kindness and loyalty is only a disguise tend to bad-mouth their friends whenever they are not present. In order to look better, they will magnify their mistakes or flaws, which only shows how insecure they are deep within.
2. MINDS THEIR OWN BUSINESS; PEOPLE PLEASER
Genuine people always do what they think is best for them, not paying attention to the way others will perceive their actions. On the other hand, fake individuals are shallow and always act in a way to impress others.
3. ON YOUR FACE; BEHIND YOUR BACK
Genuine individuals are direct and say everything face-to-face rather than talking behind back. You should remember that if anyone gossips with you, they do the same with other people too.
4. HUMILITY; BOASTING
People with genuine personality don’t feel the urge to prove themselves, so they rarely talk about themselves and their achievements. The ones with artificial personality, on the other hand, enjoy showing off.
5. ACTUAL INTEREST; ONLY FOR SPOTLIGHT
Genuine individuals aren’t after glory. They enjoy what they are doing, and if it brings them fame, it`s an added bonus. Fake individuals seek fame and glory and basically live for the limelight.
6. ACTION; WORDS
Those with genuine personality believe in the value of hard work and their actions speak more than words. On the flip side, fake people are deficient and dull, although they sound mighty and high.
7. HONESTY; DECEIT
Genuine individuals are all about giving honest criticism, compliments, and opinions while those with artificial personality bombard others with extravagant praises and flattering.
8. LIMITLESS SUPPORT; ABANDONING WHEN NEEDED
Genuine people provide limitless support to their friends, without expecting anything in return. To the contrary, fake people are willing to help only if they can gain something from it.
