Toxicity takes many forms in humans. We think we understand the people near us but often they reveal their true colors when we need them the most.
We are familiar with narcissists and it’s best to stay away from them. But do you know any spiritual narcissists?
They simply use their spirituality to justify their ways and get what they want always. They rise on the broken dreams of others and have no inhibitions about it. Here are 10 signs to identify such a spiritual narcissist:
1. Never Take Responsibility For Their Mistakes
A Spiritual narcissist will never own their mistakes. For them, everyone else is wrong and their words and actions are always right. Even when caught red-handed, they would lie through it all!
2. Hollow Words
These Narcissists will never practice what they preach. While they make tall claims with their words, their actions always fall short.
3. Tear Others Down
Their insecurities prompt them to bring others time the moment they realize someone else is actually doing something better than them. You will never once hear a word of encouragement from them but they will actively bring others down to feel superior.
4. ME ME ME!
Be it in a group or a private conversation, a narcissist would not listen to anyone else. It all about their opinion. They have to speak and everyone else has to listen and follow. You will never get to voice your opinions unless they know they can use it to hurt you later.
5. …But I’m Oh So Spiritual
They know all the bad stuff they do but will cover them all up on the pretense of being spiritual. For every action, they have a spiritual perspective to justify it. Yes, spirituality leads many people to do many things but these narcissists just exploit this fact. They think people won’t see through their BS.
6. Compulsive Need To Correct Others
We all have our flaws and no one flaunts them. But narcissists want the world to think they are perfect. So they go the extra mile to correct others. They think this will somehow make them appear better than the rest. They are always giving out unsolicited advice and pretend to be smart about topics they have no clue of!
7. I Am The Best
The superiority complex in narcissists is very common, stemming from their complicated minds and lack of self-esteem. They try to cover this lack with fake confidence and announce their superior ways wherever they go.
8. Double Standards All The Way
Since they are all about hollow words, their actions reveal their double standards. They must be free to criticize and correct others but God forbid anyone tries to correct them! A spiritual narcissist will never accept their faults.
9. By Hook Or By Crook
When their own wishes are not being fulfilled, a spiritual narcissist will again employ the spiritual plot to get things done their way. They will fabricate lies in a minute if it means they can get their way.
10. Inconsistent AF
Double standards lead to their inconsistency. They are full of charm but the moment you get to know them closely, you realize their inconsistent nature. They never stick to what they say and are always going back on their words.
If you know any such person, it’s best to cut all ties. As soon as possible. Take care of yourself and get rid of these toxic spiritual narcissists.
