Whether you’re excited for all the pumpkin recipes or you’re ready to switch from tanks to cardigans, Libra season — and the fall equinox, which coincides with the sun moving into this cardinal air sign — gives you the go-ahead to soak up all the fall vibes.
But the sun’s time in Libra, the sign represented by the Scales, is about much more than changing out clothes and craving cozy sweatpants. It’s also a time of year dedicated to strengthening relationships, cultivating balance in all aspects of life, giving both sides of any argument equal time, and prioritizing harmony above all else.
Following the third Mercury retrograde of the year, which runs from August 23 to September 15 in Virgo, Libra season in 2023 is also a time to get your ducks in a row. You should also brace yourself for massive, stunning, and potentially thrilling changes as the year’s second eclipse season begins on October 14 with a solar eclipse and new moon in Libra. And, as Mars, the planet of action, begins its journey through one of its own signs, the intimacy-seeking Scorpio, the stakes in relationships have never been higher.

When Does Libra Season Start?
Libra season lasts approximately from September 22-23 to October 22-23. This year, the sun will be in Libra from September 23 to October 23 (at least in US time zones).
Libra Season’s Overall Mood and Vibe
Look no further than the sign’s ruler, Venus, the planet of relationships, beauty, art, money, and values, to get a sense of how Libra functions in astrology from mid-September to mid-October. Libra is drawn to and thrives on socializing; they frequently strive to be the host with the most, as well as someone known for creating aesthetically pleasing (possibly Instagram-worthy) and memorable moments. Anyone born with Libra placements in their birth chart (meaning Libra is their sun sign, one of their “big three,” or even one of their “big six”) may be inspired to create a buzzy, blissful, and eye-catching scene.

Although the sun moves through Libra every year, the moon and other planets follow their own paths through the sky, creating a unique astrological picture of Libra season that varies from year to year.
Mercury, the planet of communication, transportation, and technology, will finally move forward during Libra season after its third retrograde of the year, which occurred from August 23 to September 15. You can now put into action whatever you were thinking about, revisiting, and revising during Mercury’s retrograde period.
The second eclipse season will also be in full swing during the Scales season, with the third eclipse of the year — a solar eclipse and new moon — occurring in Libra on October 14. Expect major, unexpected shifts, especially in one-on-one relationships, beauty, and money — all of which are Libran and Venusian themes.
In addition, Mars, the planet of action, energy, and sex, will transit fixed water sign Scorpio from October 12 to November 24 (covering half of Libra, all of Scorpio, and the first few days of Sagittarius season).
