June 2023 feels like two different months combined.
There is a sense of up and down energy in the first half of the month. We may feel a little scattered, or we may find ourselves oscillating between periods of being on track and getting things done, followed by periods of procrastination, feeling stuck, or being idle.
As we enter the second half of the month, there is a tremendous flow of feminine energy. This energy will direct us to use our hearts and connect with the wisdom of feeling. We may feel more in tune with our bodies and more sensitive to our surroundings.
Relationship issues may also arise for us, or we may simply question who we are in our relationships and what they bring out of us.
The energy feels slower in the second half of June, and we may be in a more passive state. While this passive state can be uncomfortable at times, there is also beauty in going with the flow, surrendering, and simply accepting where we are in life.
Accepting things as they are can sometimes bring about the most significant changes and shifts.
By the end of the month, we will have three planets in retrograde, with Venus following in a few weeks. All of this retrograde energy can definitely slow things down and naturally lead us to reflect and look back before we can move forward.
Let’s look at the month’s key dates and how you can work with the energies.
Astrology for June 2023
June 1: Mercury Leaves Shadow Phase
Mercury, the planet of communication, is back on track after exiting retrograde on May 21st. Mercury is known as the god’s messenger, so pay attention to any messages or insights that come your way. If you’ve had problems with technology, delays, miscommunications, or contract disputes in the last few weeks, you might notice that things are running more smoothly now.
June 3: Sagittarius Full Moon
The Sagittarius Full Moon is much lighter than the ones we’ve seen in recent months. It has a lighthearted vibration that reminds us to make time for lightness, joy, and adventure. How can you incorporate these characteristics into your life? Saturn, our master teacher and the planet of karma, will also be activated during this Full Moon, so even though we may be navigating some difficult lessons and perhaps even paying off some karmic debts, the mantra appears to be “a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.” Consider how you can add some sweetness to your life, regardless of the medicines you are given.
June 5-6: Venus enters Leo
Venus entering Leo is a significant cosmic event to be aware of. Pay attention to what happens on this day in terms of your heart and finances, as this may reveal what themes you will be working with in the coming months. Venus will station retrograde on July 23rd as it transits Leo. Because Venus only retrogrades every 18 months or so, this is a very rare energy to work with. Venus Retrograde is a time for the heart to open. We are frequently guided to clear and heal wounds around our hearts that are impeding the flow of love. During a Venus Retrograde, we may also find ourselves questioning our relationship with money and whether we are experiencing enough pleasure or joy in our daily lives. Venus in Leo can also cause us to consider our passions, our purpose, and how we can truly shine. Because Venus will be in Leo until October, these will all be significant themes for us in the coming months.
June 11: Pluto Retrograde Returns to Capricorn
Pluto went retrograde on May 1st in Aquarius, but today it moves into Capricorn, where it will remain until the end of 2023. Pluto shifts signs every two decades or so, making this transition between Aquarius and Capricorn both rare and exceptional! Pluto entered Aquarius in March of this year, so while we are still unpacking this cycle, it appears that we are taking a breather. The tone will shift as Pluto returns to Capricorn, and we may find ourselves revisiting past transformations. Pluto entered Capricorn for the first time in 2008, and while most of us will not be looking back that far, we may find ourselves revisiting the period between October 2022 and March 2023. Consider any changes, upheavals, or transformations that occurred, and be proud of how far you’ve come! While Pluto in Retrograde will not reveal any new information, it will assist you in fine-tuning whatever new energies have entered your life. Pluto Retrograde allows us to delve deeper into our subconscious, peeling back layers to reveal a greater truth. As a result, it is an excellent opportunity to do healing work and clear traumas.
June 11-12: Venus in Leo Square Jupiter in Taurus
This is a lovely energy to work with! It combines the right amount of creativity with action. We can be passive with our creative projects and visions at times, but the cosmic skies are giving us a boost today, reminding us to keep moving forward with our creations. This is an excellent day to get started on those creative projects you’ve been putting off, especially if they’re difficult.
June 17: Gemini New Moon
The Gemini New Moon has a friendly vibe to it, encouraging us to enjoy the company of others! We may feel especially social or drawn to tell our story in some way. This New Moon also carries lovely romantic energy, guiding us to be optimistic about matters of the heart. If you’ve recently broken up, this New Moon is excellent fuel for a fresh start. This New Moon’s energy can be used to focus on self-love and to set intentions for your next relationship. This New Moon is also charged with energy, reminding us to value our skills and talents regardless of our relationship status. When we are partnered with others, we can lose our sense of independence and forget about the gifts we have within. We may even find ourselves being the supportive partner in a relationship while the other person pursues their dreams. This New Moon encourages the creation of greater balance and serves as a reminder to find your own path, regardless of your relationship status.
June 17: Saturn Retrograde in Pisces
Saturn stations retrograde on the New Moon, amplifying its energy. Saturn entered Pisces in March 2023, so we are witnessing the first Saturn Retrograde in Pisces in nearly 28 years! Saturn, the Lord of Karma, is our master teacher. During this retrograde period, we are invited to review past lessons and teachings to ensure that we have understood them! Themes that were prevalent in March may very well resurface for further examination. Saturn can bring difficulties, and its retrograde can bring those difficulties to the surface. Our task with Saturn, on the other hand, is to step up and accept responsibility. Saturn never throws us a challenge we can’t handle, so trust that you’ll be able to handle whatever comes your way!
June 18: Sun Square Neptune
Neptune is the planet of dreams, illusions, creativity, and unconditional love. It is considered Venus’s higher octave. On this day, we can more easily channel Neptune’s energy. We may feel more creative, more in tune with our heart center, and our dreams may become more vivid and prophetic. Neptune, on the other hand, can create illusions, which can lead to mental fogginess and confusion. Trust your instincts, especially at this time of year. Make certain that you are not making decisions with rose-colored glasses on. Use this energy to fuel your creativity and self-expression.
June 19-20: Venus Enters Shadow Phase
The upcoming Venus retrograde is one of the year’s most significant cosmic events. Venus enters the shadow phase at this time, which means she begins to prepare for her retrograde journey. When a planet stationed retrograde, ancient astrologers believed it was entering the underworld, moving deeper into the subconscious and hidden realms of life. Venus will start preparing for her journey to the underworld at this point. We may not be able to predict what will happen next, but themes such as love, money, beauty, and relationships are likely to resurface in some form in the coming months.
June 21: Solstice/ Sun Enters Cancer
Hello and welcome to Cancer Season! Cancer Season begins on the holy Solstice day. On this day, the planet’s energy grid enters a higher state of harmony, thinning the veil and allowing us to more easily access the spirit of things. Our intentions and vibration become more powerful as the veil thins. The Summer Solstice also marks the beginning of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of Winter in the Southern Hemisphere. The Sun’s transit from bubbly Gemini to sensitive Cancer will encourage us to be more in tune with our hearts and bodies. Cancer is also a sign of loyalty, family, and creating a sense of belonging. With all of these energies activated, you may want to experiment with ritual work, nature bonding, and seasonal celebrations.
June 21: Ceres enters Libra
Ceres, the Goddess Asteroid of Grain and Harvest, enters the Goddess-ruled Libra, bringing nourishing, supportive, and regenerative energy with her. This energy is best expressed through the feminine principles of surrendering, allowing, and going with the flow. When we combine this with the strong Venus energy that is currently flowing through our cosmic skies, it appears that we are being guided to a place of trust and allowing.
June 30: Neptune Retrograde
Neptune joins Pluto and Saturn in going retrograde. Three planets in retrograde, plus Venus on the way, can cause a slowing effect in our celestial skies. We may naturally find ourselves looking back in order to move forward. Neptune is the planet of illusions, dreams, and creativity. It can lift the veil in retrograde, guiding us to see the truth. We may not have been able to see what was going on behind the scenes before, but now we can. Consider it like a magician revealing a trick. What you were seeing was an illusion, but knowing how it’s done creates a shift. Depending on where you are in your life, this shift could be significant or minor. A higher truth has now been discovered, and it will continue to evolve as your consciousness grows.
