On March 19, 2024, the transiting North Node in Aries will align with the moving Mercury in transit! Between March 16th and 20th, 2024, this fortunate aspect will be in play, and it will return in April, after Mercury’s retrograde phase ends.

In astrology, Mercury represents the intellect. It controls how we express ourselves verbally. Mercury is ambivalent, busy, and involved. Mercury wants to have a lot of different foci and is a fast planet.
North Node in Astrology
Lunar Nodes, of which the North Node is a component, mark the exact locations on the Moon’s orbital plane where it will cross the ecliptic. In the zodiac, the North and South nodes are in direct opposition to one another.
Because of its familiarity and the fact that it represents what is already known, the South Node—the past, early life, and past lives—can serve as an emotional crutch. Because of its opacity, the North Node—representing our latent abilities, our life’s mission, and the place of our ultimate fulfillment—can make us wary.
In astrology, the Lunar Nodes can be found in either the Mean (averaged out) or True (exact) positions. But, they’re typically rather near to one another, spaced no more than 1-2 degrees apart.
Mercury Conjunct North Node in Aries 2024: Impact
Our thoughts, plans, and conversations are front and center right now, thanks to Mercury’s conjunction with the North Node. We have more freedom to say what’s on our minds and to discover new ways to do it. Right now, there might be some big news, or someone might share some important information.
Plans, ideas, news, and information can inspire and energize us when Mercury is in Aries. We can be enthusiastic and ready to act immediately. We may identify with this on a deep level because of the personal significance it holds for us.
Keep in mind that the North Node is strange, so we should probably stay away from it or maybe even run away. Despite our fears, if we can overcome them, we will reap many benefits. We must be courageous enough to confront it head-on.
Mercury will be square with Chiron on March 20th, adding to the possibility that this is related to Chiron’s conjunctions with the North Nodes (True North Node on February 19th and Mean North Node on March 5th).
As the wounded healer in astrology, Chiron is associated with both our capacity to heal and the depths to which we have been wounded. We have a chance to make significant progress and improvements if we seize the current ideas, news, information, or plans that may affect wounds, healing, and growth.
Mercury is conjunct the True North Node at 15 degrees Aries and the Mean North Node at 16 degrees Aries, and is conjunct Chiron at 18 degrees (Chiron conjuncted the True North Node at 16 degrees and Mean North Node at 17 degrees), so aspects to your natal bodies can occur with planets or points between 15 and 18 degrees of:
- Aries (conjunct; amplifies)
- Gemini and Aquarius (sextile; beneficial)
- Cancer and Capricorn (square; challenging)
- Leo and Sagittarius (trine; beneficial)
- Libra (opposition; challenging)
If you want to know where in your life you might put your emphasis on plans, ideas, news, and information, check at the placement of 15–18 degrees Aries in your natal chart. You never know what you might pick up, how engaging you could be, what plans you could make, or what ideas you could generate—all depending on the rules of the house.
Also in April, Mercury will go retrograde, giving the impression that it is moving backward. On April 25th, with Mercury conjunct North Node, the retrograde will end. It’s not precise, but it’s within the ballpark. After the Mercury retrograde ends, we can put our attention where it needs to be: on realizing our potential, fulfilling our purpose, and preparing for the future. That meshes splendidly with another major aspect that will be exact on April 21st: Jupiter square Uranus! Now we’re moving forward with a lot of enthusiasm.
