For good reason, today, January 20 has been the most anticipated date for astronomers and stargazers.
Pluto has entered Aquarius twice in the last year, and this date marks the second transit. Pluto initially entered the air sign on March 23, 2023, and remained there until June 11, 2023, before regressing into Capricorn. This change in vibes brings us full circle. In Aquarius, Pluto will be in charge from January 20th to September 1st. However, before it leaves Capricorn for good, on September 1st to November 19th, it will do a final moonwalk to check that we are still on the correct track (owing to Pluto’s retrograde, which begins on May 2nd and continues until October 11th). Now is the perfect time to adapt to cosmic changes because Pluto will be in Aquarius from November 19 through March 8, 2043, and then back into the sign at the end of August until January 20, 2044.
Some people’s lives are affected by Pluto’s transit for generations to come. For those in Generation X and later millennial years, a period of balance and justice was ushered in by Pluto in Libra from 1972 to 1984 (the retrograde impacted the linear timeline). In the years between 1983 (when Pluto also danced backwards) and 1995, millennials focused on protecting themselves by relying on their intuitive knowledge of the world. From 1995 to 2008, when Pluto was in Sagittarius, a new generation called Gen Z was born; they were known for being independent thinkers and truth seekers. A generation ago, when Pluto was in Capricorn (2008–present), we were compelled to alter our business practices. Now that Pluto has returned to Aquarius, we can expect to see a change in our approach to building international friendships and a genuine yearning for peace and humanitarian progress.
There will be far-reaching consequences for society, space travel, scientific advancement, and technology as Pluto enters Aquarius. This change will bring about a new age of connectivity, which will make us think about how to interact with our neighbors and communities. More generally, our values and aspirations may lead us to gravitate toward humanitarian endeavors. Also, this astrological occurrence could mean that we’re making significant progress in our quest to transform contemporary science and space travel. We should expect to hear a lot more talk about sending humans to colonize other planets, as well as see a dramatic shift in how we put science and technology to use. Robots will become more commonplace in our lives as artificial intelligence develops further; in fact, they may soon outnumber self-driving cars and restaurant automation combined.
Death and rebirth are common themes when Pluto is considered. One of the zodiac signs known for its defiant personality is Aquarius. Those who dare to question established conventions and establish new ones will likely achieve notoriety as a result. Both the distribution of power in society and the works of art and media that we enjoy will reflect this.
Pluto in Aquarius encourages a shift toward specialization and innovation, which can lead to intellectual growth and social impact. Having honest conversations about mental health and prioritizing easily accessible healthcare are two possible outcomes. More than that, we can use this time to our advantage by fostering an environment that values teamwork above individual achievement. We can build a better world where everyone helps everyone else if we work together. In terms of learning and adapting to change, no one will be disadvantaged.
During Pluto’s transit through Aquarius in 1777–1798, established hierarchies were deemed obsolete, and a new order was sought after. As a result of the American Revolutionary War, a new society was established, ostensibly based on the principle of equality. But we know from looking back at history that system was severely flawed. The hope is that we will put our newfound wisdom to use in our quest for global equality now that we are experiencing the same celestial energy pass through us a second time. First and foremost, we will not repeat the same past error; rather, we will reconstruct the world in a more progressive and contemporary fashion, removing limitations and reevaluating social institutions. It is possible that politics could change and a new culture based on equality could emerge.
When it comes to astrology, this transit of 2024 is among the most significant. A watershed moment in both our lives and the world around us is about to unfold. There will be challenges along the way, but we must rise above them and ride the wave of energy if we want to continue forward. Pluto’s dance in Aquarius will have an impact on all of us, but it won’t be a bad one.
