Spiritual Principles For Forgiveness

The King James Bible offers us this: “But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”

So often people scoff at the notion of extending love or goodwill to those that have injected sadness or pain into their lives. However, there is great wisdom to be found in the Bible verse above.

If someone deliberately and continuously berates, betrays or gossips about you, consider taking the following actions:

  1. Remove yourself from their presence or minimize your contact with them.
  2. Recognize that the offender is still loved by God despite their negative actions.
  3. Forgive (forget) their misdeeds – entirely.

Let me explain. As a New Thought Leader, my journey has required hard work, dedication, and commitment to the spiritual well-being of myself and others. The unwavering support of my family, friends and colleagues have been instrumental in my success and achievements thus far.

However, the goodwill of others cannot benefit me without my acceptance of it. Therefore, I must allow my consciousness to become infused with the shared ideas of positive faith, love, and belief.

However, inexplicably, not everyone has always wished me well. For example, a trusted colleague once revealed their true nature by displaying venomous jealousy. Unbeknownst to me, I was engaging with a person who did not have my best interests at heart.

I discovered that this individual had attempted to thwart my efforts, impugn my reputation, and generally damage my credibility. I was the victim of both spiritual and ethical fraud.

As I thought through the situation, I faced a difficult question: How do I handle this? Fortunately, over the years I have acquired an arsenal of spiritual knowledge which I subsequently put into action in order to successfully navigate this unexpected and painful situation.

I applied the following spiritual principles:

  1. Whatever we focus our attention on (good or bad) increases.
  2. No one can hurt you without your permission.
  3. We are each responsible for our own consciousness.
  4. Everyone reaps as they sow in consciousness.

I realized that these principles apply equally to everyone. Truly, what a shame it would be to plant someone else’s negative seeds in my consciousness and reap in kind. Likewise, I knew that whatever the offender was focused on – jealousy and spitefulness – would be increased in their experience.

That knowledge allowed me to let the matter go. I decided not to allow my consciousness be contaminated by the ill will of another. I did not go down the rabbit hole that they were digging.

Instead, I considered each of the principles above and took the following actions:

  1. Increased my focus on my fulfilling my spiritual calling.
  2. Realized that forgiving/forgetting the offender would mean they could not hurt me (my consciousness).
  3. Cultivated a consciousness of love, creativity, and positivity towards myself and my endeavors.
  4. Sowed seeds (thoughts and beliefs) exclusively of excitement and belief in my own success.

For some, it may seem like a difficult task to undertake the above course of action. However, I knew that my light, my love, and my goodwill would outshine any negativity thrown my way. I had faith in goodness. I stood for Truth.

The results of taking this approach were truly miraculous! It created an almost unstoppable string of positive experiences. My dreams began to manifest and continue to do so today! The greatest lesson I learned from this experience is that light ALWAYS dispels the darkness.

And so it is!
