This coming New Year promises to be an exciting one as extraordinary movements will be seen in the skies. On January 21st, we’ll witness a complete lunar eclipse just as the day dawns.

Along with this the Super Blood Wolf Moon is going to arrive, i.e., the period in which the moon is closest to the Earth during its orbit. It will look bigger and shine more brightly than usual. On that very night, the Earth, the Sun, and the Moon will line up and the Super Full Moon will be completely dark for some time.

Planetary Phenomena In January 2019

Gear up for an exciting alignment of the planets on the very first day of the year. At its peak will stand the Moon with Venus burning bright just below it. Under Venus will stand Jupiter, the king of all the Gods, glowing with an otherworldly light. Last of all, Mercury will arrive, standing at the very bottom of their pattern.

Luckily, this alignment doesn’t spell any kind of doom for us. It is simply something wonderful that you can feast your eyes on. If you want to see Mercury properly, ensure that you have a clear view of the Eastern horizon. The Moon, Venus, and Jupiter will take their positions by around 4.30 AM while Mercury will only rise just a little, under an hour later.

In this month, Neptune will move into retrograde and enter Pisces and stay there for about twenty days. Neptune’s retrograde lasts for two months each year and it influences us to focus more on our spiritual journey towards our highest purpose in life.

Important Dates To Watch Out For

3rd, 4th January – The annual meteor shower produced by the comet 2003 EH1 which is called the Quadrantids Meteor Shower will occur in the first five days of January, peaking on the 3rd and the 4th. Go to a place free of light pollution on the night of 3rd to get the best view. The point of origin will be from the Bootes constellation, but keep an eye out since the meteors can radiate from any point.

6th January – This is a New Moon night in which the Moon will enter Capricorn bringing with it new opportunities at your workplace. Your karma will be balanced during this period. You will not be able to see the moon but the lack of its light will make it easier to spot other stars and galaxies. This is also the period in which you will get the clearest view of Venus if you look towards the east just around dawn. A solar eclipse is also predicted at this time as the moon will partially cover the sun. People living in East Asia and the North Pacific are best situated to see the eclipse.

21st January – The Supermoon in Leo, a Full Moon, will be visible on this night. Since the Sun and Moon will be on opposite sides of the Earth, the former will make the latter glow brighter than ever. Indigenous tribes in America refer to this moon as the Wolf Moon since it occurs during the period when wolves would howl in hunger late into the night. Leo’s influence will make us rethink about all of our relationships and priorities.

On the same day, we will also see a complete Lunar Eclipse when the Moon moves into the Earth’s shadow. The Moon will take on a reddish hue. Those in the Americas, the East Pacific, the West Atlantic, and the westernmost points of Europe and Africa will be able to see the eclipse.

22nd January – Jupiter and Venus will come together and can be seen just around 2 degrees from each other just before dawn. Just look towards the east and you will be able to see them. Be careful not to overindulge as Jupiter has a tendency to make everything look worse than it is.
