Let`s face it! Thinking positive in virtually any given situation is difficult.  In fact, it is almost impossible to be positive all the time, just like it is to never have any negative thoughts.

If you manage to switch your mindset and practice positive thinking, it can have a tremendous impact on your life.  Here are 15 positive thinking exercises that can help you stay optimistic!

15 Positive Thinking Exercises

1.Believe You Will Succeed

Believing in yourself is the key to feeling more positive, showing care and self-worth. You need to believe that you will accomplish great things, and you are already one stop closer.

2.Practice Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations are statements that will remind you of the positive aspects of your life and help you stay optimistic.  When you are repeating them, you start believing in them, which makes you feel good.

3.Make Peace With The Past

Holding on to the past is the worst thing to do, especially when you are trying to stay positive.  Let go of the past and focus on the present instead.  The past cannot be changed, so being present is the right thing to do at the moment.

4.Use The Mirror Technique

Stand in front of a mirror and tell yourself how great you are. This will boost your confidence and you will start to feel more optimistic and positive.

5.Breathe

As simple as it seems, this indeed helps you reduce stress and stay positive.  As an added bonus, it helps you to think rationally in difficult situations.

6.Go Easy On Yourself

Being hard on yourself is the worst thing to do.  Instead, forgive yourself for any mistake or failure and go easy on yourself.

7.Fill Your Mind With Positive Thoughts

Find things that you are positive about and write them down, whether it is things you are proud of or something great that happened that day. This will make it much easier for you to start to think optimistic.

8.Express Gratitude

Practicing gratitude through gratitude journals or reminders is a good way to change your mindset into being more optimistic and positive, as it allows you to reflect on the good in your life.

9.Use Self-Hypnosis

Self-hypnosis also helps change your mindset into more positive.  Do a little research to find out more about the many ways in which self-hypnosis can help you improve your life.

10.Stop Making Excuses

Trying and stepping out of your comfort zone is the key to positivity.  Putting up barriers over new challenges and making excuses doesn’t help at all.  Learn to say yes to new experiences!

11.Only Use Positive Words When Talking

You need to stick to using positive words when talking to yourself or to others.  Words like ‘no’, ‘can’t’, ‘won’t’ and ‘don’t’ are not an option.

12.Remind Yourself Of Your Blessings

Remind yourself of your blessings on a regular basis, whether it is for your family, friends, or small things like having a roof over your head.

13.Develop A Personal Mantra

Similarly to positive affirmation, mantra is a statement that inspires, encourages, and changes your mindset into being positive and optimistic.

14.Read An Inspiring Book

Reading an inspiring book will help you feel more motivated and optimistic, showing you how far a person can come in life, even when faced with challenges.

15.Create Realistic Goals

Crating unrealistic goals leads to feelings of negativity and frustration. Instead,  set achievable goals that will keep you optimistic, excited, and motivated.

If you are making unrealistic goals for yourself you are much more likely to fail no matter how hard you try, which can understandably, make you feel frustrated and negative.
