As most of the countries in the world are still experiencing the cold, rainy and snowy winter weather, a lot of people can’t wait for the start of the spring season. It looks like warmer days are coming soon.

The Spring Equinox of this year is just in front of us, happening on the 20th of March, on Wednesday. This promise of much better weather will be a reason for celebration; however, this equinox is not only about that. It actually has a lot of spiritual meanings which we have to know.

Although a lot of people do not consider themselves deeply spiritual, the profound meanings which stand behind this equinox in history are a lot more significant and really interesting.

Some researchers discovered that the journey of the Sun is actually the way in which a lot of ancient civilizations build and run cities. If we understand these meanings, they might help us welcome this new season properly, which is full of advantages.

If we are prepared to put our past behind, then we are almost going to be fascinated and amazed with all the spirituality which is found behind the upcoming equinox.

Spring is the season which is associated with new beginnings, cleansing and changes. We can see all this in the flowers which peak out of the ground, or in the birth of some cute and beautiful baby animals.

These ideas were actually inspired by ancient times because celebrating the journey of the Sun was always a fundamental life part.

In a lot of religions, this equinox is said to be an unbelievably significant time. In Christianity for example, this equinox is considered to be the period of passion, and also crucifixion and the resurrection of Christ.

However, Christianity is not the only one that gave this yearly period a special meaning. The ancient Greeks, Mayans, and Egyptians celebrated their gods’ resurrections too.

The Spring Equinox has a spiritual meaning for a long time. Until the eighteenth century, in a lot of regions of Europe, this equinox has been considered as the start of the new astrological year.

People in the ancient times performed certain rituals during the Spring Equinox, in order to cleanse out some old energies in themselves or in the homes too.

Generally said, this Equinox is said to be the period of struggle between darkness and light, death and life. It occurs when the night and day will be equal, and the journey of the Sun to actually get there also signifies the journey of the Universe.

The importance of the spring season is that the daylight will start increasing, so we will experience more light such as illuminating, reminding us that the light will always return to earth. Hence, this equinox is the representation of new life and light, new beginnings, path, and seeds.

As the day and the night will be equal on the 20th of March, this equinox will also be the representation of our needs for balance during this period. It will be the time of new beginnings, renewal, and growth.

We can say that this equinox is definitely the best period of the year, in order to focus on some new projects, or get rid of something which doesn’t serve us anymore, and to find the balance we need in life.

If all this sounds just like what we wanted, then we should celebrate. Although we do not want to take part in some ancient rituals for this celebration, we may be inspired and motivated by them.
