A new trend shows that more and more people are opting for holistic medicine as it focuses on prevention rather than late treatment.

In the US, chronic disease ranks first for killing most people every year. Medical error ranks third. It’s no surprise that many people are now opting for preventive methods than invasive ones. Let’s take a deep dive into what Holistic Medicine is and how it is different from Western Medicine.

How Is Holistic Medicine Different From Western Medicine?

Western Medicine follows reductionism. This means that their approach to disease would be to target the affected organ directly. For instance, if a patient is complaining about his/her skin itching, a Western Medicine doctor would recommend the patient to see a dermatologist. It limits the viewpoint directly. The itchy skin could have been caused by several other factors since the integumentary system is also connected to other body systems. Furthermore, when the patient is given a pharmaceutical ointment, it will only treat the symptom, not the root cause.

Holistic Medicine, on the other hand, follows a holistic approach. This system focuses on each body system since they are all intimately interconnected. For instance, if the patient we mentioned earlier visits a naturopathic doctor, the doctor will try to find the root cause of the issue. Several tests will be conducted, along with inquiring about the patient’s lifestyle choices such as sleeping patterns and diet.

You Receive More Personal Attention By A Naturopathic Doctor

I’m sure all of us have experienced long waiting-lines in a doctor’s office. And, we always end up spending more time waiting for our turn than on our session with the doctor. The entire session takes less than 20 mins. Then, the doctor just writes us a prescription, and we have to be on our way back.

This is in sharp contrast to naturopathic doctors. Since Holistic Medicine seeks to find the root cause of a disease, their doctors give you much more personal attention. They review your metabolic, hormonal, and genetic abnormalities to find what’s truly causing an ailment.

Holistic Medicine Is Vaccine-Friendly

There is not much discussion about vaccines and their side effects. If you try to question the CDC recommended vaccinations, you are brushed off as crazy or uneducated. Unfortunately, Western Medicine refuses to address the concerns of worried parents whose newborns are injected with multiple vaccines at a time.

The concern is real, as compared to 1986 when people were receiving much fewer vaccines, the current rate of people suffering from chronic illness is much higher. It was 11 percent in 1986. Today, it has risen to 54 percent.

It has also been seen that certain vaccines can cause SIDS in young children. No study has disproved this as of yet. This is not to say that vaccines are completely ineffective. But, we should at least get the option to decide what’s best for ourselves and our children.

In Holistic Medicine, you are given several options to choose from. You can choose lower doses of vaccines. Moreover, you will also be provided with supplements that will help your body dispose of the neurotoxins.

Pharmaceutical drugs, on the other hand, only serve to cover up the symptoms. Just popping pills won’t do us any good. A change in lifestyle and diet is a sure way to overcome even chronic diseases. Sure, if the naturopathic doctor thinks you need an antibiotic, they will prescribe you some. But, these are not their immediate response to everything.

Holistic Medicine focuses on healthy living. It is sure to gain momentum once people realize its effectiveness.
