We’re coming out of eclipse season for November 2023, with a new moon in passionate Scorpio and a full moon in inquisitive Gemini.

What effects do these have on us?

What exactly is a New Moon?

A new moon occurs when the transiting (moving) Sun and Moon are in the same Zodiac sign (called a conjunction). New moons are associated with beginnings, are full of energy, and are enthusiastic.

What exactly is a Full Moon?

A full moon occurs when the transiting (moving) Sun and Moon are in exactly opposite positions in the Zodiac (this is known as an opposition). Full moons are associated with endings, climaxes, and emotional energy.

New Moon in Scorpio: November 13th 2023 (4:28a.m. ET or 10:28 a.m. CET)

Scorpio is an intense, passionate water sign, so new moons in Scorpio usually have us passionately focused on something, intense in our approach, wanting to get to the heart of the matter. We can be serious and determined, and we will find everything we need to find. This assists us in resolving issues that have been bothering us and transforming in beneficial ways that empower us.

Scorpio values empowerment, which allows us to pursue opportunities that give us more power and control over our lives. The changes we make now can help us become more committed to our passions, recover from defeat, and feel stronger and more confident.

Scorpio is the sign of sharing and other people’s money, so new moons in Scorpio can be excellent for mutually beneficial projects and ventures, business and financial partnerships, and investments involving other people. We can also concentrate on our legacies.

Scorpio rules the darker side of life, which we can accept with the Scorpio new moon. We can delve into the forbidden and investigate decay and destruction. Instead of being scared of things, we find them fascinating and want to learn more about them. As Scorpio is one of the science rulers (along with Aquarius), we can expect some significant scientific news.

This new moon is conjunct transit (moving) Mars in Scorpio and opposes transit Uranus in Taurus. The conjunction to Mars gives this new moon more energy and drive, and we can be more enthusiastic about whatever we’re passionately pouring ourselves into. Because Mars is the traditional ruler of Scorpio, we can feel more attuned to the energy.

The opposition to Uranus, on the other hand, may make us more unpredictable, and we may be more impulsive, impatient, and irrational with anything that doesn’t move as quickly as we want it to. We need to be more patient and wait for things to happen. Concentrate on small changes that can add up over time.

The new moon occurs at 20 degrees 44 minutes Scorpio.

The aspects to the new moon are:

Conjunction: 18 degrees 44 minutes – 22 degrees 44 minutes Scorpio

Sextile: 18 degrees 44 minutes – 22 degrees 44 minutes Virgo or Capricorn

Square: 18 degrees 44 minutes – 22 degrees 44 minutes Leo or Aquarius

Trine: 18 degrees 44 minutes – 22 degrees 44 minutes Cancer or Pisces

Opposition: 18 degrees 44 minutes – 22 degrees 44 minutes Taurus

Full Moon in Gemini: November 27th 2023 (4:17a.m. ET or 10:17a.m. CET)

Because Gemini is the mind sign, full moons in Gemini amplify our mental energy, and we closely identify with what we think and say. This allows us to express ourselves more authentically, and our hearts and minds merge, allowing us to say what we mean and mean what we say. Communication can be fraught with emotion, and we have a tendency to read too much into what others say, which can lead to miscommunication if we aren’t being objective (which we aren’t). But now is a good time to say something you’ve been holding back (just be careful with your words!).

This can be a time of news, and we may receive news or share information with others, or we may receive news and share information with others. There is a flow of information, which can be beneficial or detrimental. There may be significant news in the world at large, and we may learn something significant.

Because Gemini is an active sign, we tend to want to be active, and keeping busy and socializing can help us feel more emotionally stable and secure. We can quickly become irritated and frustrated if we keep things boring. At the same time, we must be careful not to overdo it, as this can lead to anxiety and stress. We need to be busy, but not overly so.

Gemini is a travel ruler, but only for short distances (by car, bus, bicycle, etc.), so there may be something influencing travel. Gemini is also the ruler of schools, so we may see some education or youth-related news.

This full moon is widely opposed by transit Mars in Sagittarius and square (difficult aspect, 3 signs away) by Black Moon Lilith in Virgo. These are two difficult aspects that like to cause havoc! When Mars is not manifesting well, he is impulsive, impatient, and volatile, whereas Lilith is fury. They’re both agitated, so communication may be difficult! We may be prone to outbursts and fights, and the news that spreads may not be positive. We must do as previously stated, keep busy but not overly so, and ensure that we are not overly reading into things, allowing for flexibility, and thinking before yelling.

The full moon occurs at 4 degrees 51 minutes Gemini.

Aspects to the full moon are:

Conjunction: 2 degrees 51 minutes – 6 degrees 51 minutes Gemini

Sextile: 2 degrees 51 minutes – 6 degrees 51 minutes Aries or Leo

Square: 2 degrees 51 minutes – 6 degrees 51 minutes Virgo or Pisces

Trine: 2 degrees 51 minutes – 6 degrees 51 minutes Libra or Aquarius

Opposition: 2 degrees 51 minutes – 6 degrees 51 minutes Sagittarius
