It is the new year and there is a new cycle of Mercury retrogrades that needs to be passed through.
The retrograde in 2021 was quite chaotic and we have decided to look at the moment when the Planet of Communication dances backward in 2022.
The backward spin of the Planet of Communication sends us into a tizzy as we experience difficulties in our personal relationships, and technology while our communications get wobbly and are travel plans go in the trash bin.
These changes, however, give us an opportunity to reflect upon our lives and take advantage. We can then plan out changes that can make our lives easier.
Mercury retrogrades are observed 3-4 times in a year, which is more than any other planet in our solar system. As a result of this, Rx energy is visible and it plagues us frequently.

The Dates For The Mercury Retrograde In 2022
January 14 — February 3:
The retrograde will occur in Aquarius from January 14 to Jan 25. It will then shift into Capricorn from January 25 to February 3. The pre-retrograde shadow begins on December 29, 2021, and the post-retrograde shadow will end on February 23. The pre-retrograde shadow is the time when we feel the effects of the movements right before the retrograde kicks of officially.
May 10 — June 3:
The retrograde will occur in Gemini from May 10 to May 22. It will then cross into Taurus from May 22 to June 3. The pre-retrograde shadow will begin on April 25 and the post retrograde shadow will end on June 18.
September 9 — October 2:
The Mercury retrograde will be in the sign of Libra from September 9 to September 23. It will move into Virgo from September 23 to October 2. The pre-retrograde shadow will begin on August 22, and the post-retrograde shadow will end on October 16.
December 29 — January 18 (2023):
The pre-retrograde shadow will begin on December 12, and the post-retrograde shadow will end on February 23, 2023.
You need to write these dates down in your 2022 calendar and plan ahead.
The Mercury retrograde is not all bad. Yes, it can cause chaos but it prepares you for what’s about to happen so that you can handle it with grace.
Stardust pointed out that retrogrades are a time of reflection amidst erratic activities. One needs to use this opportunity correctly to make major changes in their daily lives that will then affect them in amazing ways for years to come.
