Returning to the events that started on November 25 when Mercury entered its retrograde shadow, the story will pick up again on January 1 at 10:07 p.m. ET or on January 2 at 4:07 a.m. CET, when Mercury will turn direct in Sagittarius.

While we were celebrating the holidays, Mercury went retrograde in Sagittarius and Capricorn. As the planet continues its forward motion, it serves as a reminder of the things we wish to accomplish in the next weeks to better our lives.

The weeks immediately after a retrograde end are known as the retroshade phase and they are characterized by the most unusual behavior of the planets. The energy that started on November 25th, when Mercury was in its retrograde shadow, will now give people a third chance to navigate it. Retroshade, or the post-retrograde zone, will remain in effect until the 20th of January. We will then be able to exit the post-retrograde zone and proceed.

With Mercury returning to Capricorn on January 13, we can make amends for wrongdoing and draw wisdom from our experiences before continuing on. But it could also reveal issues we were oblivious to before, giving us a chance to fix them and make better decisions. Doing so will allow us to complete our assessments and acquire a better grasp of the situation prior to the end of the post-retrograde degree on January 20.

Several astrological phenomena occur again as Mercury enters its post-retrograde zone. This aspect, which first occurred on November 27 when Neptune squared off with Mercury, will recur on December 27 during the retrograde and again on January 8 during the post-retrograde phase. Due to this transit, our information processing becomes clouded, and we are uncertain of the best course of action to take for a prosperous future.

The conjunction of Mercury and Saturn occurred on December 2, and they re-met on December 21, during the retrograde phase. Then, on January 18, Mercury and Saturn will meet for the last time. We need to make our feelings more adaptable to a world that is always shifting. Because of this, we may be less able to express ourselves clearly or keep our promises. The truth is, we need to speak our minds, but we also need to remember that other people’s word may not be reliable at the moment, so we shouldn’t put too much stock in what they say. Establishing reasonable expectations and limits will help you weather any disappointments that may arise during the post-retrograde period.

Once Jupiter’s retrograde is over, Mercury will once again be in a conjunction with Jupiter. The initial conjunction of these two celestial bodies prior to the retrograde was on December 7. While Mercury was moonwalking on December 18, they met up. On January 19, they will bond for the final time after the retrograde. Thanks to this alignment, we can see things more clearly and understand things better in a number of contexts.

Mercury in retrograde can obscure the truth, but Jupiter helps bring it to light. A life-altering epiphany could be on the horizon when these two celestial bodies come together. Along with Jupiter’s expansion and Mercury’s contraction, this alignment reminds us to look at the forest for the trees and not get caught up in the weeds. You have an opportunity for introspection and development during this planetary alignment.

Do not be afraid of the retroshade. Its purpose is to clarify any misunderstandings so that we can go forward. It is time to speak up if we have anything on our minds. During this time, we can make amends and get things straightened up. Furthermore, we have agency over our relationships and the actions we take before bidding them farewell.

Retrogrades and retroshades are inherently unpredictable, so we should welcome the unexpected that may come our way right now. We can’t predict the future, so we should be prepared for both pleasant and unpleasant surprises. The key is to adapt quickly to new situations and just go with the flow.

January 13, 2024: Mercury re-enters Capricorn, taking us back to December 1, allowing us to relive the events leading up to the retrograde that began on December 13.

January 18, 2024: Mercury in Capricorn connects with Saturn in Pisces for a third time, adding power and meaning to our words and communication.

January 19, 2024: Mercury in Capricorn harmonizes with Jupiter in Taurus for a third time, expanding and elevating our consciousness.
