On Monday, August 21, 2017, there’s a total eclipse of the Sun. The Sun’s light will be eclipsed by the Moon and the Moon’s shadow will fall across America.
The path of totality, averaging 67 miles (108 km) wide, will cross through 10 states – Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina – and skim several others. It will pass directly over Salem (Oregon), Idaho Falls and Lincoln (Nebraska), Kansas City and Nashville (Kansas) and Columbia and Charleston (South Carolina). Residents and visitors to these cities will be in the dark for over 2 minutes with those near Hopkinsville, Kentucky – at 1.24.41pm EDT – experiencing the Sun’s glorious corona, strange colors in the sky and stars in the daytime for 2 minutes and 40 seconds. All regions outside the path of totality will experience a partial eclipse. Los Angeles and Boston will experience a 60% cover of the Sun; Miami a 78% cover; Chicago a 87% cover and Seattle and Denver a 92% cover.

The total solar eclipse of August 21, 2017 – the first to sweep across the entire country in 99 years – starts in the mid Pacific Ocean. Its first point of totality in the US is the waterfront at Government Point, Oregon. A total eclipse occurs there at 10.16.55am PDT. Then with the eclipse shadow racing at 3,400 miles per hour (but slowing down) the eclipse tracks east and 1 hour, 33 minutes and 17 seconds later departs American soil at an isolated beach on Cape Romain, just east of McClellanville, South Carolina. It then continues out over the Atlantic Ocean for about 75 minutes.
Outside the narrow path of totality a partial eclipse will be visible from all of North America, the eastern tip of Russia, Canada, Greenland, Mexico, Central America – Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama – The Caribbean Islands, South America – Venezuela, Colombia, Guyana, Guiana, Suriname, Ecuador and parts of Brazil – England, France, Spain and North-West Africa – Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau.
Eclipses have an astrological significance. They sign for disasters and an Eclipse chart and/or New Moon chart for a specified place can reveal the nature of the disaster and who and what’s involved. An Eclipse chart is constructed for the moment of the eclipse and the New Moon chart is constructed for the time of the New Moon. These times at the same place can be quite different so astrological research is required to determine which chart provides the more accurate event forecast.
The Eclipse charts and New Moon charts for 5 US cities/towns are presented plus the New Moon chart for Washington. Starting on the west coast these charts track the eclipse by its house position as it crosses America.
Each chart captures an image of the Sun-Moon and planets as they appear when viewed from the Earth and reveal, by their house positions, their influence on specified departments of national affairs. But rather than assess individual charts from a local perspective – and there’s no reason to assume that these towns or cities will experience a local disaster, although they could – they are assessed in a national context.
But first, the Eclipse/New Moon charts present a mixed bag of influences.
The eclipse is conjunction Mercury – planet of talk, the press, wind and controversy; conjunction Mars – planet war, destruction and disasters; and sesquisquare (agitation) Pluto – planet of groups, mass activity and drastic events. It’s also trine (luck) Saturn – planet of security measures, careful planning and fear – and trine (luck) Uranus – plant of unexpected developments and surprise moves.
Mercury is opposition Neptune – the planet of deception, peculiar happenings and freaky conditions. Mars is sextile Jupiter – the planet of finances, goodwill assistance and ships – and trine Saturn. Uranus is trine the eclipse and Pluto is opposition Venus. In the current global environment the Mars influence can’t be ignored and with the Hurricane season starting on June 1 neither can Mercury, but the trine and opposition aspects reveal a diverse range of discordant and harmonious influences that may or may not play an obvious role in the disaster-event or events that transpire.
At Lincoln City, Oregon (124W01; 44N57), on the West Coast, the partial phase of the eclipse starts at 9.04.41am PDT. Totality starts at 10.16.07am and lasts 1 minute and 55 seconds so the Eclipse chart is constructed for 10.17.05am PDT.
The eclipse, Mercury and Mars are in house 11 (Congress). Saturn is in house 3 (communications and roads), Uranus is in house 7 (foreign powers and war) and Pluto is in house 4 (weather events and homes).
The New Moon chart for Lincoln City, Oregon is constructed for 11.30am PDT. This is one hour and 13 minutes after the eclipse time so the two charts are quite different. In the New Moon chart the eclipse and Mars are in house 10.
At Clayton, Idaho (114W24; 44N16) the partial phase of the eclipse starts at 10.30am MDT. Totality starts at 11.29 13am and lasts 2 minutes and 7 seconds so the Eclipse chart is constructed for 11.30.16am PDT.The eclipse and Mars have now moved to house 10 (the President and business) with Mercury in house 11 (Congress). The other major players have not changed their house positions except for Pluto, now in house 3.
At Clayton, Idaho the New Moon chart is constructed for 12.30pm MDT. This is one hour after the eclipse time so the two charts are quite different. In the New Moon chart the eclipse, Mercury and Mars are all in house 10.
At Unadilla, Nebraska (96W16; 40N41) the partial phase of the eclipse starts at 11.38 am CDT. Totality starts at 1.03.30pm and lasts for 1 minute and 20 seconds so the Eclipse chart is constructed for 1.04.10pm CDT.
The eclipse and Mercury are still in house 10 (the President and his administration) but Mars has moved to house 9 (legal matters, courts, ethical issues, ships and shipping). The eclipse and Mars are conjunction the Mid-heaven so their influence is amplified and there are other major changes in the chart. Saturn has moved to house 2 (finances and money-matters); Uranus has moved to house 6 (work, sickness and military personnel); Neptune has moved to house 4 (homes and weather events) and Pluto is in house 3 (roads and communications).
The New Moon chart for Unadilla, Nebraska is constructed for 1.30pm CDT. This is 26 minutes after the eclipse time so the charts are different. In the New Moon chart the eclipse and Mars are in house 9 with Mercury in house 10.
At Nashville, Tennessee (86W47; 36N10) the partial phase of the eclipse starts at 11.58.30am CDT. Totality starts at 1.27.21pm CDT and lasts 1 minute and 55 seconds so the Eclipse chart is constructed for 1.28.19pm CDT.
The eclipse, Mercury and Mars have now moved to house 9 (legal issues, court cases, The Supreme Court and shipping). Saturn has moved to house 1 (the people), Uranus has moved to house 5 (risks, hazards and the stock market), Neptune stays in house 4 and Pluto has moved to house 2 (finances and money-matters.)
The New Moon chart for Nashville, Tennessee is constructed for 1.30pm CDT. This is only 3 minutes after the eclipse time so the charts are very similar.
At Columbia, South Carolina (81W02; 34N00), on the East Coast, the partial phase of the eclipse starts at 1.13.07pm EDT. Totality starts at 2.41.50pm EDT and lasts 2 minutes and 30 seconds so the Eclipse chart is constructed for 2.43.05pm EDT.
The eclipse, Mercury and Mars are in house 9. The only major change in the chart is Neptune moving to house 3 (communications, transportation and roads).
The New Moon chart for Columbia, South Carolina is constructed for 2.30pm EDT. This is 12 minutes before the eclipse time so the charts are quite similar.
So as the eclipse crosses America it will visit 3 houses. At the start it’s in house 11 (Congress). It then moves to house 10 (the President and business) and at the end it’s in house 9 (the courts, legal matters, shipping and ethical issues.) And the astrological theory is that the event signified by the eclipse will in some way involve the people and national affairs ruled by these 3 houses.
A partial eclipse occurs at Washington (77W01; 38N53) and the New Moon chart for the nation’s administrative capital is constructed for August 21, 2017 at 2.30pm EDT.
In this chart the eclipse, Mercury and Mars are in house 9 (the Supreme Court, constitution, law courts, legal matters, ethical issues, universities, trade, religion, aviation, airlines, tourism, internet, radio and television.) Uranus in house 5 (Wall Street, gambling, children, teenagers, sport and entertainment) is trine (luck) the eclipse; and Saturn in house 1 (the people and their welfare) is trine (luck) Mars.
The disaster-event or events forecast by this total eclipse of the Sun will occur one or two months before or after August 21, 2017. The precise place or places of location are not known but the path of totality is an important factor to consider. Any city or town where the shadow of the eclipse falls is in the running so that means anywhere in America. And in regard to the actual disaster-event:
Mars – the planet of accidents, fires and war – conjunction the eclipse can sign for a disastrous accident, fire or conflict event; Mercury – the planet of decisions, conversations, controversies, the press, journalists and wind – conjunction the eclipse can sign for an event involving reckless decision-making, misguided talk, controversy or a destructive hurricane; and with the eclipse tracking through houses 11, 10 and 9 as it crosses the country the event can somehow involve Congress, the President, the law, legal issues, the courts, the Supreme court, trade, a ship or shipping. But… in the age of non-stop natural and man-made disasters the real difficulty will be identifying the actual disaster or disasters the eclipse signs for.
In regard to natural disasters the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has already forecast an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season with five to nine hurricanes due to warmer-than-average waters across the tropical Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea and a weak or non-existent El Niño. The peak tornado season in the Northern Plains, Northern States and upper Midwest is in June or July.
Saturn is the planet of storms and other natural disasters and hurricanes and tornadoes are destructive wind (Mercury) storms and Mercury is conjunction the eclipse. Mercury, Saturn and eclipses are forces of nature but you can’t eliminate humanity from the equation. It’s a force of nature too. And while it’s generally believed that human behavior is not involved in natural disasters it’s likely that the natural disaster that the great American eclipse forecasts will bear the mark of climate change that’s predominately caused by human behavior.
The next total eclipse of the Sun will occur on July 2, 2019. The path of totality will cross Chile and Argentina with most of South America experiencing a partial eclipse.
The science of eclipses presents our current understanding of eclipses.
It’s commonly assumed that an eclipse falling in the same degree as the Sun or some other planet in your chart will coincide with an event that can be attributed to the eclipse, but this is a false assumption. The major events you experience are defined by your birthchart and local environment. They’re timed by major progressed aspects. The personal experience of anyone directly involved in a disaster-event mapped by the eclipse will be clearly explained by the progressed aspects operating in their charts at the time of the disaster. Eclipses have a mundane – not personal – influence.
The solar eclipse of August 21, 2017 may or may not be in the same degree as Donald Trump’s ascendant. The eclipse is at 28 Leo 53 and Trump’s ascendant, based on the recorded birth time (10.54pm) is at 29 Leo 58. But his birth time has a +/- one minute margin of error and at 10.53pm his ascendant, at 29 Leo 46, is conjunction the eclipse. But it doesn’t mean a thing.
If Donald Trump is a key player in the major disaster-event forecast by the August 21 eclipse it will be due to the eclipse passing through house 10 of the eclipse chart as it crosses America. Houses 9, 10 and 11 are astrological hot-spots in the eclipse charts and they’re astrological hot-spots in Donald Trump’s progressed chart too. So Trump’s future is clearly defined by the progressed aspects in his birthchart, but the indicators do not forecast definite events.
