Ceres quickly shifts from passionate, intense Scorpio to fun-loving Sagittarius. What effect does this transit have on us?

Astrology enthusiasts and newcomers alike are constantly looking for new ways to better understand their natal chart placements. Ceres, a dwarf planet in the asteroid belt, is one celestial body that can provide deep insights into your life. Ceres is a nurturing figure who can influence your food relationship, physical comfort, and attraction power. Ceres adds an intellectual and adventurous approach to nurturing when she is in the zodiac sign of Sagittarius.

What does Ceres mean in astrology?

Ceres is technically a dwarf planet (like Pluto), but in astrology, it is referred to as an asteroid (as it was before it was designated as a dwarf planet). Ceres is extremely nurturing, supportive, and caring, and she is always there for you. It’s like a supercharged Moon (maybe with a little Venus thrown in).

Ceres in Sagittarius 2023 – 2024 Dates:

  • enters Sagittarius on November 25th 2023
  • exits Sagittarius on February 7th 2024

Ceres’s General Impact in Sagittarius:

Ceres will leave Scorpio and enter Sagittarius in late November, but she will only be in this fire sign for about 2 1/2 months. Ceres has been intense and passionate in Scorpio, but Ceres in Sagittarius is light and not serious at all. Sagittarius wants to have fun, be silly, and have a good time.

This means we’re not taking our resources and finances seriously. Instead, we just let things fall as they may and trust that everything will work out in the end. We’re optimistic, and we might even consider ourselves fortunate. We might actually be lucky, so everything will work out. But we must be careful not to push our luck, or we will quickly find ourselves in a bad situation.

It’s better if we capitalize on our good fortune and work to expand the resources we have access to, the financial opportunities we can pursue, and the support we have. This can assist us in bringing great abundance, and we can feel better and better about life as everything works out.

Because Sagittarius rules travel, we may spend time traveling, especially if we are going somewhere far away. We may discover that this soothes, nurtures, and relaxes us. Hopefully, this means that the holiday travel season won’t be too hectic, ha.

Because Sagittarius rules higher learning, we may spend time expanding our knowledge on something, which can make us feel nourished. We can get help expanding our knowledge and use our expertise to help others.

Sagittarius is one of the communication and writing rulers, ruling marketing, publishing, and promoting, so this could be an excellent time to do so. Writing can be nourishing, and we can receive feedback on what we put out there. We do need to be careful about what we say, and not just throw out random statements with no evidence to back them up.

The transit begins strongly, with Mars entering Sagittarius the day before. Mars is the planet of energy and drive, so expanding our resources, finances, nourishment, and support can make us feel energized and driven. This is extremely beneficial, as Mercury is not.

Mercury retrogrades, or appears to move backward, in Sagittarius from December 23rd to January 1st, which could throw us off. Even if Mercury does not align with Ceres, it may be difficult for us to feel as if we are meeting our needs and being supported. We may need to find new and different ways to nurture ourselves and our lives, as well as be open to expanding in ways we hadn’t considered before. We may want to lash out during this time, but doing so is counterproductive. So all we have to do now is get through this period.

Ceres in Sagittarius 2023 – 2024 Aspects:

• Square Saturn in Pisces on November 27th 2023 at 1 degree

This aspect begins as soon as Ceres enters Sagittarius, and because Saturn is restrictive, we may not immediately feel the expansive energy of Ceres in Sagittarius. Instead, Saturn wants to make sure we’re doing things the right way and for the right reasons, and that we’re not being hasty. Any issues surrounding nourishment and support can feel stronger, and some may break through if we do nothing productive about it. Others may simply believe that there aren’t as many resources or support options as we’d like, but we can make do with what we have until more become available. I’m also concerned about famine or other disruptions to the food supply around this aspect, because Ceres rules food and Saturn is deficient.

• Trine Chiron in Aries on December 31st 2023 at 15 degrees

In astrology, Chiron is the wounded healer, and he represents our emotional and spiritual wounds, our health, and our ability to learn and grow. Trines are beneficial aspects, so this is an excellent way to end the year, and we can concentrate on how to best nurture our natural healing abilities. We can consider how much we’ve grown in 2023 and what resources we want to maximize in 2024 to provide us with more abundance and nourishment. With Mercury retrograde ending in 2023, this would also be an excellent time for routine checkups.

• Conjunct Venus in Sagittarius on January 16th 2024 at 21 degrees

Ceres’ only conjunction in Sagittarius is with Venus, the planet of relationships and connections, so we can focus on nurturing the relationships we have and supporting the people in our lives. We may desire more support in return, which allows us to work on expanding our support systems. We may be more in tune with the physical world, more sensual and indulgent, and desire more relaxation.

• Square Neptune in Pisces on January 26th 2024 at 25 degrees

With our resources and support, this square to Neptune can bring out the Neptunian fog, making it difficult to pinpoint the source of the problem. This can expose us to deception and manipulation, especially if we lack clear boundaries and a firm grasp on our resources. Any boundary issues may become more visible, and it is critical to address them. At the same time, some may become cruel in response, so we must be careful not to lose our compassion in order to maintain boundaries. Healthy boundaries are good for us, but not cruel to others.

Final Words

Ceres in Sagittarius wishes you good luck! Just have to get through the beginning with the square to Saturn and ending with the square to Neptune. Don’t overdo Saturn’s discipline, and don’t let Neptune’s fog consume you.
