Introvert Burnout Is Real & This Is How to Go Through It

An introvert is a person who finds it very difficult to interact with new people. They feel very uncomfortable at social gatherings.

Socializing is not their favorite thing and they get very cranky and exhausted when they are around too many new people. Such an excessive amount of exhaustion from socializing is called introvert burnout.

Discussed below are a few points that will help us deal with introvert burnout:

1. Make sure that your close friends know that you need alone time

Your close friends or family members may not understand how difficult it may be to interact with new people for a long period of time, if they are an extrovert. If they are the ones you count on in times of need then it is imperative that you make them understand how you feel.

2. Every week find out the time to be alone

Life is very monotonous and among all the hard work, family gatherings and catching up with friends, you need to make sure that your introvert side is getting properly nurtured. It may sound difficult but you need to find out the time so that you can recharge and rejuvenate yourself.

3. Figure out a way to introvert even when you are surrounded by people

This is a very intrinsic and a difficult thing to do but if you can pull it off then it will help you a lot in life.

4. Going outside or to the bathroom is the best escape

An introvert burnout can be easily avoided by having just three or four minutes to yourself. Whenever you feel like you are about to lose control, rush to the bathroom and wash your face with cold water. Take a few deep breaths and everything will be alright.

5. Set a routine that calms you down

Life can be hard at times. In order to avoid introvert burnout, make a routine that helps you to calm your nerves. It can be anything and it doesn’t matter if it is repetitive as long as it gets the work done.

6. Be appropriately prepared for social events

Social events can be nerve-racking for introverts. You have to be mentally prepared if you are going to meet a lot of new people. Being all alone before attending such events is the best way to avoid introvert burnout. It keeps you calm and helps you rejuvenate.

7. Always ask for some space

If you ever feel that you are being bombarded by too many people at once then ask them to give you some space. If you still don’t get what you want then tell them that you are an introvert. It is going to be hard but it is still better than upsetting the new people.

8. Ask your friends for help

Being an introvert, it is not possible that you do not have introvert friends. When everyone fails to understand your condition, ask your friends for some help. They are in the same shoes and will surely do all that they can to help you.

9. Avoid bad situations

If there are situations or events that you know will make you feel miserable or uncomfortable then avoid them at all cost. Certain things are not avoidable and in those cases, you can keep your stay short in order to avoid introvert burnout.

10. Be prudent while using your alone time

If you waste the time that you get to be alone then you will never get it back. Just because there is no one around you, it doesn’t mean that you are alone. Use the time wisely and recharge yourself.
