Sometimes, we just can’t help but feel low. Our attention is constantly drawn to the bad things which are happening or have happened. Try as we might, we can’t get motivated enough to raise ourselves out of this slump.

So what do we do when we find ourselves in our situation when we can’t win over our own mind and get it to think happy thoughts?  We need to raise our vibes and get out of this slump.

And here are the best 10 ways to get yourself out of this slump:

1. Try to steer clear away from technology-

There is more bad news in the world than I would care about. And being constantly I’m touch with technology ensures that we are bombarded by these negative emotions all day. Try avoiding technology for a while so that you don’t have excess anxiety over things you can’t control.

2. Stop relying heavily on Social Media-

There have been numerous studies which have shown that increased social media use is directly related to depression and anxiety. Try giving your social life a break and enjoy life as it was before Facebook.

3. Spend time with a friend-

And not over social media, in person. While you’re with your friend, try not focusing on the negative things in your life at the moment and rather talk about the good things that have happened.

4. Go out and enjoy nature-

Spending time in the greenery is the best way to get out of any slump. It will not just fill you with peace but also energy.

5. Get your body to work-

Any kind of exercise, be it a run or cycling or swimming is guaranteed to put you in an instant good mood. Try exercising for at least 20 minutes in a day and you will notice the difference.

6. Try Meditation-

Everyone has heard about the benefits of meditation and there is a reason why they are so well regarded. Meditation can be hard, so you might want to get someone to help you first so that you can get started.

7. Spend some time with an animal-

There is a reason that people with anxiety disorders are assigned therapy dogs. When you spend some time with an animal, be it any animal, dog or cat or whichever furry, cuddly companion you can get your hands on, you will find your mood instantly lifting. Animals can cheer even the most depressed souls with their innocence and all encompassing love.

8. Breathe-

Focus on your breathing and try to take deep breaths when you feel that you are particularly downcast.

9. Be grateful for the things you have-

Try figuring out what are the good things in your life. Make a list of things that you are grateful for. It will help you in bringing more positivity in your life.

10. Try helping others-

This is perhaps the best way to raise yourself out of a slump. When you help others, you get an instant high which cannot be compared to anything else.
